Maryrose Cobarrubias Mendoza is a multimedia artist who replicates and reinterprets everyday objects and materials to explore cultural perception. Mendoza was born in Manila, Philippines and immigrated to the United States at the age of 3 1/2. She lives and works in Los Angeles County. She received her BA from California State University Los Angeles, her MFA from Claremont Graduate University, and attended Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design.

Mendoza was the recipient of a Los Angeles COLA Award as well as fellowships from New York’s Art Matters Foundation and the City of Los Angeles. She has also been an artist-in-residence at Yaddo Artist Residency and Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency. Her solo exhibitions include: Commonwealth and Council (Los Angeles), Solway Jones Gallery (Los Angeles), YYZ Gallery (Toronto) and an upcoming solo exhibition at HudsonJones Gallery (Cincinnati) in 2018. Her group exhibitions include: Forum Gallery (Los Angeles), SOMA Arts (San Francisco), Plug In Gallery (Winnipeg), Pacific Asia Museum (Pasadena, CA), University of Hawaii (Honolulu), Los Angeles County Municipal Art Gallery (Los Angeles), and POST (Los Angeles). Mendoza teaches at Pasadena City College where she is an Associate Professor and Drawing Coordinator. Mendoza has spoken about her work at numerous campuses and galleries including: UCLA, UCI, California State University Dominguez Hills, Claremont Graduate University, USC, and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.
