Cher Musico is a queer Filipina American visual storyteller from Dallas, Texas. She works in media including photography, painting, spoken word poetry, and video journalism. Previously DBA as MUSICO ROOTS, her primary focus was photographing stage performances of spoken word poets, fashion shows, nightlife, drag kings and queens, performances, and musicians. Currently, Musico is a graphic designer, executive producer of Mustache Envy Drag and Queerlesque monthly variety show, and board member and teaching artist of Young DFW Writers, a youth poetry program modeled after Chicago's "Louder than a Bomb" high school program, while pursuing an MFA in Visual Communication.
Musico's creative practice has included being a national competitor with the Ft. Worth (Poetry) Slam team; former special events photographer for the Resource Center Dallas and Gaybingo; former marketing and manager of Dukes of Dallas drag kings; co-founder and current co-producer of Mustache Envy Drag Queerlesque; former photographer for "Tuesday Tease" at Sue Ellens Dallas; graphic designer for The Body is Not an Apology, former percussionist, stage manager, TV producer, and talent coordinator for the Filipino Folk Arts Theatre; and media specialist for Citichurch of Dallas. In 2016, her focus shifted to CHER MUSICO STUDIOS, a collection of creative endeavors.
