Lordy Rodriguez was born in Manila in 1976. Raised in Texas and Louisiana, Rodriguez is currently based in Benicia, California. He received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in 1999 and his MFA from Stanford University in 2008. Reconfiguring maps into new geographical compositions that dislocate and relocate real and imagined places, Rodriguez's drawings have been shown, published, and collected widely throughout the United States and abroad.

His series of six drawings, “Strangerhood” (2013), is featured by the San Francisco Arts Commission at the SFO International Airport in the Terminal 3 concourse. Selected solo exhibitions include Code Switch at Hosfelt Gallery (San Francisco, CA), States of America at the Austin Museum of Art (Austin, TX), New Dislocations at Clementine Gallery (New York, NY), and Texas 50 at ArtPace (San Antonio, TX). He also took part in the notable group exhibition At Home & Abroad: 20 Contemporary Filipino Artists, which traveled to San Francisco, Houston, and Manila. His work has been published by Princeton Architectural Press, Phaidon Press, Art in America, Artforum, Harper‘s Magazine, and The New York Times, among others.
