Eileen R. Tabios loves books and has released about 50 collections of poetry, fiction, essays, and experimental biographies from publishers in nine countries and cyberspace. In 2017 she released four books in four countries: THE OPPOSITE OF CLAUSTROPHOBIA (KFS Press, United Kingdom); YOUR FATHER IS BALD (Bibliotheca Universalis, Romania); LOVE IN A TIME OF BELLIGERENCE (Editions du Cygne, France); and MANHATTAN: AN ARCHAEOLOGY (Paloma Press, United States). Forthcoming poetry collections include HIRAETH: Tercets From the Last Archipelago (2018). Inventor of the poetry form “hay(na)ku,” she has been translated into eight languages. She also has edited, co-edited or conceptualized 12 anthologies of poetry, fiction and essays.


Maryrose Cobarrubias Mendoza is a multi-media artist who replicates and reinterprets everyday objects and materials to explore cultural perception. Mendoza received her MFA from The Claremont Graduate University (1991), BA from California State University, Los Angeles (1989), and attended The Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design (1984-85). She has received awards from The Department of Cultural Affairs, C.O.L.A. and Los Angeles Artist Fellowship, Los Angeles (2012), PlugIn Gallery, Canada (1997), and Art Matters, NY (1995).

Her solo exhibitions include: Commonwealth & Council, S1f Gallery, Los Angeles; Solway Jones Gallery, Los Angeles; Haus Gallery, Pasadena; YYZ Artist’s Outlet, Toronto. Mendoza has been an Artist in Residence at Joshua Tree Highland Artist Residency (2017), Yaddo Artist Residency, NY (2003), and an intern at the Socrates Sculpture Foundation, NY (1998).

Mendoza is currently an Associate Professor at Pasadena City College.
